Early professional reviews are in – 4 out of 5 stars!

When it comes to the solitary act of writing, it is a shift to move from the creation and storytelling phase to the promotion and marketing process. In fact, it’s a bit nerve wracking. Now, we cross the threshold from the safe and supportive network of people we know that have encouraged us in our writing endeavours and read early drafts providing feedback to the cold critics and the average reader who demand an entertaining product and have no investment in the writer. So, I am pleased to share that the early reviews are looking good for the Equity of Love!

Foreword Clarion Reviews has given the book 4 out of 5 stars. Reviewer Kelley Lynne Moncrief praises the intriguing novel for how it captures the early 2000s with nostalgia:

“Set in 2004 amid the world of technology companies, this is a novel that is notable for the remarkable detail of its worldbuilding. Investors and motivational posters fill its background; the minutiae of the era, from the enduring relevance of the BlackBerry to the use of CDs and Razr phones, fills in its foreground.

The review captures the essence of the story with “Multiple perspectives combine in the modern novel The Equity of Love, where romantic desires clash with the intrigue of complicated technology-sector business dealings.”

BlueInk declares the novel “solidly appealing” and praises the structure of the book with its various perspectives:

“Multiple points of view in a novel often become a liability, but these four main characters’ engaging personalities and distinct perspectives give readers a stake in each of their journeys. Likewise, the multi-faceted, propulsive plot makes the novel difficult to put down in its final chapters.

This all comes at a good time, as in December of 2023 the book was accidentally published. The modern saying of “when you assume something, you make an ass out of you and me” certainly hit home. I will own the flawed (though reasonable) assumptions that I made around loading files, setting publication dates and enabling distribution on the publishing platform called IngramSpark. Now I am pivoting my promotional efforts and revising timelines. We will make the best of this yet!
