I had a great time at the WOTS (Word on the Street) festival in downtown Toronto during the last week of September, 2024. The weather was perfect, the location between Queen’s Park and the wonderful University of Toronto campus beautiful, and the friendly vibe of the booksellers, authors and other vendors divine.
This was my first real outing promoting my book to strangers. What a learning experience! How different to sell something personal to individual people instead of a company’s software to businesses. I felt like I was back in my first day of sales making amateur mistakes! After a couple of missteps like giving a full plot dump when some people asked what the book was about, I found my steady footing. The best part was being able to (eventually) talk about my book without sounding like a fool.
I met some wonderful people and fully intend to exhibit again next year! Some photos from the event below.
